Of the seventy Orkney Islands only twenty are inhabited. One of which, the Isle of Auskerry, is home to the Probert’s and their flock of Orkney’s native sheep breed, the North Ronaldsay.
Now one of only two flocks left of this endangered breed. The sheep spend their days wandering along the pebble beaches eating their favourite food – seaweed! – and their fleeces are clipped only when a new layer of wool is available to keep them nice and toasty against the Scottish weather.
A wonderful yarn brand with conservation, ethics, sustainability and care for their beloved flock at the heart of everything they do.
