Loch Lomond is a woollen spun yarn, which means that the yarn isn’t smoothed or combed when spun as per worsted yarns, but stretched out instead, trapping lots of air in the process. This creates a very bouncy and elastic yarn with a nice volume that produces lovely and warm yet lightweight garments. When paired with a fluffy mohair like our Along Avec Anna Mohair, the results are exceptional.
Please note: This light yarn is not as stable as a worsted spun yarn. If you are a tight knitter or are knitting to a tighter gauge, please be careful not to break the fibre.
Caring for our planet and creating sustainable habits around our craft is important to us which is why natural fibres are prominent in our yarn selection at Baa. However, caring goes deeper than fibre type, which is why, like all our BC Garn yarns, Loch Lomond Lace is GOTS-certified. This means that from sheep to dyestuff, from production to stock keeping and packing, each step is inspected carefully and in line with very strict organic and social standards.
The raw wool for Loch Lomond Lace comes from Mulesing free farms in South America. It is Spun in Turkey.
