A Year of Granny Squares by Kylie Moleta

Any crocheter will be familiar with the classic granny square and with just a little imagination and flair, the possibilities are endless. Kylie Moleta has designed this creative collection of colourful squares with the changing seasons in mind. The main bulk of the book contains the patterns for 52 individual granny square patterns, split into 4 sections, one for each season. Expect heavier, textured squares for the chiller autumn and winter chapters and lighter lacey squares as you transition through to spring and summer. 

Each crocheted granny square is designed to measure 15cm (6in). Each pattern consists of both clear written instructions using  US crochet terms (single crochet in the US is double crochet in the UK) and detailed stitch diagrams and corresponding charts to cater for all abilities and crochet styles. For crocheters more familiar with UK terms, Kylie has also included a handy pullout UK conversion chart to avoid any confusion. 

The book culminates with 4 seasonal projects to crochet using the granny squares which you are free to customise however you wish. Patterns include

This comprehensive book is complete with a section on core crochet techniques which includes a clear and thorough explanation of various techniques including basic stitches, reading patterns and charts, joining and edging and embellishing your squares.
